Description: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is efficacious in the treatment of Substance Use Disorders and many commonly co-occurring conditions. This workshop introduces the cognitive formulation of addictive behavior first articulated by Beck et al., (1993), emphasizes the importance of treatment delivery guided by a sound idiographic case formulation and presents innovative CBT-based clinical interventions.
Session 3 (Supervision)
At the completion of this session participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure and scoring logic of the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS)
- Incorporate the CTRS into clinical supervision, when applicable, to facilitate adherent CBT practice
- Summarize the elements of adherent clinical behavior across all eleven items of the CTRS
- Identify site-specific mechanisms outside of a clinical supervision context for using the CTRS to facilitate adherent CBT practice
Description: This session will focus on fidelity related to CBT. The emphasis of this session will be on recognizing the skills and techniques referenced in Sessions 1 and 2, evaluating them considering CBT standards. The intention is to develop more qualitative skills versus simply quantitative instances of a skill occurring and to introduce tools for monitoring CBT. Examples and role plays may be used as a part of this session. This session is intended for those in a supervisory or lead staff capacity or those who wish to deepen their skills and understanding related to CBT.
